Beni Beach
Beni Beach is a 110-metre residential tower from 1996 on Avenida Armada Española, right on the Playa de Poniente. For decades it has been run as a complex of 160 tourist apartments.
The story
When the tower was finished in 1996, its 35 floors made it the third-tallest building in Benidorm; only Torre Levante and Costa Blanca 1 rose higher. It has since slipped to 16th place. It was designed by the architect Felipe Sáiz Pérez. On the Poniente beachfront, Beni Beach is still the tallest building today. Six-storey buildings in front of it block the direct view of the water, but residents can still see the sea.
160 apartments, all facing south
Unlike most of the city’s residential towers, Beni Beach is let as a whole: 160 apartments with one, two or three bedrooms, run by the company Edificios Propa S.A. and registered as tourist apartments under the number AA-882. Every apartment has a glazed south-facing terrace of around 15 square metres overlooking the beach and the bay. The complex advertises that even the lower floors are at least 50 metres from busy roads.
It also has a 24-hour reception, gardens, a pool with an unusual outline, a tennis court, a garage and a bar terrace. The old town is a few minutes’ walk away; cars arrive via Avenida Uruguay. Towels are changed every four days, bed linen every seven – so says the city’s official tourism description.
