Gemelos 20

Gemelos 20 stands on Calle Ibiza, one block behind Avenida de Europa on Levante beach. Two 94-metre towers from the year 2000, today half residential block, half holiday complex.

The story

The two towers were finished around the turn of the millennium; the Wikipedia list says 2000, the letting agent Beninter 2001. On the height the sources agree: 94 metres. On the floors they do not: 31 according to the list, 29 according to Beninter, while guests count ‘more than 25’. Three fast lifts per tower, as reviewers describe it, and a locked entrance instead of a reception.

The complex is central: 450 metres to Levante beach, five minutes to the centre. In the garden is a seasonal pool with a children’s pool, open from 15 June to 15 September, plus a solarium, underground garage and round-the-clock camera surveillance. The apartments are 55 to 80 square metres, with glazed terraces and central air conditioning. From the top you can see the bay and the sunset.

Letting is mainly through Beninter, whose office is in the building and which offers the apartments ‘all inclusive’ – electricity, air conditioning and wifi at no extra charge. At the same time, families and older people live here permanently, and they value their peace; guests report strict house rules and say the upper floors are noticeably quieter than the lower ones.

Who built and designed the towers is not documented. ‘Gemelos’ is a brand in Benidorm under which twin buildings have been numbered in sequence for decades, from Gemelos 2 to Gemelos 28. The 20 is a number in that series, not a house number.

According to El Español (2022), the towers were built by the Alicante firm Ecisa.
