Las Terrazas de Benidorm
Las Terrazas de Benidorm is a pair of 101-metre residential towers from 2005 on Calle Presidente Adolfo Suárez in Poniente. Their trademark is the semicircular wine-red roof.
The story
The two towers were finished in 2005, with 30 floors each and all-concrete construction. According to the city’s skyscraper brochure of 2011 they are by the architects J. L. Candela and F. Pérez Segura. CTBUH today ranks them 23rd in Benidorm and 66th in Spain. They belonged to the first wave on this street, together with Torre Pinar (2004), Miragolf Playa and Sol de Poniente (2005); Islamar followed in 2010, later the TM towers.
The roof as a hallmark
What sets Las Terrazas apart from the city’s many concrete towers is the top: a semicircular roof in burgundy red that, according to the brochure, gives the building the look of an opened scroll. The name probably refers to the apartments’ terraces, but that is not documented.
Nothing public is documented about the developer, contractor and number of apartments; newspaper reports on the construction could not be found. No incidents or awards are known either. The towers are among Benidorm’s quiet giants: tall, but without headlines.
