Principado Marina

Principado Marina stands at the start of Avenida de la Vila Joiosa in Poniente. If the construction year of 1980 is right, for decades it was one of the few towers of this height there.

The story

Principado Marina is a residential tower of 89.3 metres and 27 floors at Avinguda de la Vila Joiosa 2, around 650 metres from Poniente beach. The list of tallest buildings dates it to 1980. That means it stood alone in its area for a long time, until Coblanca 40, Las Terrazas, Miragolf and Islamar went up in the neighbourhood in the early 2000s. Nothing could be found on the developer, architect or number of apartments; the name ‘Principado’ is not explained either.

Today some of the apartments are let through agencies such as Fincas Arena and through Airbnb. The adverts mention an outdoor pool, parking, a lift and 24-hour security; one host advertises that the building is ‘one of the few places in the area with a pool’. The centre is about 25 minutes’ walk away, the tram stop just under two kilometres.
