Edificio Ónice
Edificio Ónice is a residential tower from 2002 in the Levante hinterland, near the court building. It is one of the tallest buildings in the city, but no newspaper report about it could be found.
The story
Edificio Ónice stands not by the sea but in the district around the Juzgados, Benidorm’s court building, near Avenida de Europa. The list of tallest buildings gives it as 92 metres and 29 floors, completed in 2002 – the same year as the Gran Hotel Bali and Neguri Gane. That is essentially all that can be documented. Neither developer nor architect nor the number of apartments appear in databases or the press.
The name is the Spanish word for onyx. Whether the developer was alluding to a stone in the façade or simply wanted a sonorous name is not recorded.
