Torre Capri & Torre San Remo
Torre Capri and Torre San Remo stand around 60 metres apart in Rincón de Loix, both finished in 2005, both 26 floors. Almost nothing is documented about how they came to be.
The story
Both towers are 85.9 metres tall and have 26 floors. In the list of tallest buildings in Benidorm they rank 57th and 59th, completed in 2005. The list treats them separately, not as twins. Their coordinates, however, are only about 60 metres apart: they stand side by side in Rincón de Loix, according to the coordinates between Tropic-Mar (Calle Bonn) and Torre Monte Carlo (Calle Londres), not far from the Edificio Don Jorge.
The neighbourhood
Rincón de Loix is Benidorm’s largest district and the one with the most skyscrapers. In summer its population triples. The streets bear the names of European cities, and the towers follow the pattern too: next door stands the Torre Monte Carlo. Capri, the island off Naples, and San Remo on the Ligurian coast fit into this series of Riviera names. Who chose the names is not documented.
Developer, architect and contractor are not named in any of the sources reviewed. It is striking that Capri, San Remo and the Sierra de Bernia towers have exactly the same values in the list of tallest buildings: 85.9 metres, 26 floors, 2005. Either all four come from the same developer, or the old Emporis database simply estimated the height from the number of floors. Both are possible, neither is documented.
Good to know
- 85.9 metres and 26 floors each, both completed in 2005.
- Stand about 60 metres apart in Rincón de Loix, in the Calle Bonn / Calle Londres area.
- A neighbour with a matching name: the Torre Monte Carlo at Calle Londres 20.
Open questions
- Developer, architect, contractor and addresses are not documented.
- Same values as Sierra de Bernia 1/2 – a shared developer or a database estimate?
- Whether the two towers were planned as one project is unclear; the Wikipedia list treats them separately.
