Hotel Port Benidorm
The Sky Tower is the 26-storey extension of the Hotel Port Benidorm in Rincón de Loix, opened in May 2026. Older Benidorm holidaymakers know the original building as the Hotel Los Dálmatas.
The story
Los Dálmatas was one of two hotels built by Felipe Pastor, who came to Benidorm in 1957 and founded the Gran Hotel Delfín; later it passed to the Rumasa group. The hotelier Toni Mayor, president of Port Hotels and former chairman of the hotel association Hosbec, bought the 18-storey building a few metres from Levante beach and reopened it in 2016 as the Port Benidorm after a €13 million conversion: 288 rooms, four stars superior, heated pool, cinema room. Later the rooftop restaurant La Terrasse on the 19th floor was added.
Eight floors taller than the old building
In August 2024 the city granted the building licence for a second tower right next to the existing one: 26 floors, eight more than the old building, linked by a new connecting structure. 23 floors for rooms, the rest for spa and communal areas; the old car park was demolished and rebuilt on three levels. Port Hotels had initially started a plan for more building rights in return for a compensation payment, but then took the regular licence and bore the risk of the still-pending environmental approval itself. Construction time: 24 months.
Blue Tower, Sky Tower, The Iconic
On 19 May 2026 the hotel reopened with 410 rooms, 40 per cent more than before. The old building is now called The Blue Tower, the new one The Sky Tower, with 122 rooms. Its top five floors house ‘The Iconic by Port Hotels’, 20 rooms with their own service. La Terrasse moved to floors 19 and 20 and remains open to non-guests; a panoramic function room is on the 18th floor. Toni Mayor: Port Benidorm has been ‘part of Benidorm’s tourism history for decades, since its days as Los Dálmatas’.
