Torre Lúgano
Torre Lúgano stands on a hill in Rincón de Loix. Its tip is 237 metres above sea level – the highest point of the entire skyline. But it became known for its owners’ lawsuits.

The story
The tower was built from 2004 to 2007 by a joint venture between the construction group Acciona and the savings bank Bancaja. Apartments cost between €160,000 and €710,000. They were not handed over until June 2008, around a year and a half late.
Barely had they moved in when the owners began complaining of defects: too little water pressure on the upper floors, flooding in the garage, burst pipes, damp. The promised panoramic lift was never built. The owners’ association demanded €28 million. In 2014 the parties settled on €890,000 plus the release of around €600,000 more.
In 2010 the Wall Street Journal called it an emblem of Spain’s property crisis. From 2007 to 2021 Torre Lúgano was Spain’s tallest residential building.
